Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal admits that several of his new signings are struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League.

After thrashing QPR 4-0 at Old Trafford earlier this month, United appeared to have turned the corner following their dismal start to the new campaign, but a 5-3 setback at Leicester City on Sunday after van Gaal's side had led 3-1 at one stage, has set the alarm bells ringing once again.

United led 2-0 after 16 minutes and were 3-1 ahead close to the hour mark but capitulated badly in the closing stages as the Foxes stormed back to take the three points.

"I cannot say that I am happy. In the world of football, these matches happen," said van Gaal afterwards.

"The problem is we started the last match against QPR very good with a new team, new players and then you play here and play very well and then give the game away so that's difficult now. But I am convinced we shall improve that.

"I had to change Falcao, not because he was bad - he played very well - but because I have to build (his fitness) up. That is my problem. Di Maria also had a problem."

To add to United's woes, Jonny Evans picked up a foot injury in the first half and was seen leaving the King Power Stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
