Thibaut Courtois has said he expects to sign a new five-year contract extension at Chelsea on his return from international duty with Belgium.

The highly-rated 22-year-old made the switch back to Stamford Bridge in the summer following a hugely-successful three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid in which he won the Europa League, La Liga and Copa del Rey.

The former Genk stopper said he is now ready to commit his future to the Premier League title-chasers and is confident he will sign a new deal shortly.

Courtois told Sky Sports: "It's not yet signed. I am here with the national team so it is difficult, but when I am back at Chelsea I will probably sign the new contract."

Courtois helped El Atleti get to the final of the Champions League last season only to lose to city rivals Real Madrid 4-1.

He played against his parent club in both legs in the semi-finals of Europe's elite club competition and admitted he would relish another run against the best from the continent.

Courtois added: "Of course the Champions League is something great that you don't want to miss. Last year with Atletico I played the final. I also played the final of the cup when we won against Real two years ago.

"Of course as a professional and a winner you always want to play every game, so we will see what the decision is of the coach [Jose Mourinho]. But of course I am a professional player and I want to play every game that is possible."

Belgium open their Euro 2016 Group B qualifying campaign against minnows Andorra on 10th October and are currently priced 10/1 in the competition winner outright market.
