Carl Jenkinson has revealed that as soon as he knew West Ham United were interested in signing him on loan, he had no hesitation in joining Sam Allardyce's side.

Hull City, Swansea City and Sunderland were all keen to secure the services of the 22-year-old former Charlton Athletic player, who has featured in 37 Premier League matches for Arsenal since moving from The Valley three years ago.

"I was flattered to have a lot of options but, deep down, if I was being honest with myself, West Ham was always the place I wanted to go to," admitted Jenkinson.

"I wanted to consider all the options, but in the back of my mind it was always West Ham and I'm just so glad it's all worked out how I wanted it to in the end.

"It will be brilliant to play here. I've got a lot of friends who are West Ham fans and I know how good the supporters are here."

Jenkinson is Allardyce's sixth summer signing, following the arrivals of Argentine forward Mauro Zarate, Ecuador striker Enner Valencia, Senegal defensive midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, left-back Aaron Cresswell and midfielder Diego Poyet.

"It's a very exciting time to be a part of this club," Jenkinson added. "There is an English group of lads here, which is always great for an English lad, and the players who have been brought in are top-drawer, so there is every reason to be optimistic about this season. That was a big reason why I signed."

In 2012, Jenkinson made his England debut when Roy Hodgson's side lost a friendly international to Sweden in Stockholm and he has also been capped five times by the Under-21 side.
