India struck a potentially decisive blow right on lunch on the final day of the second Test against England at Lord's, with Ishant Sharma removing Moeen Ali.

The hosts started the day on 105-4 in their second innings, with India needing six wickets to win the match and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

However, Joe Root and Moeen Ali stood firm throughout almost the whole of the morning session to add 101 for the fifth wicket and leave the game still in the balance going into the final two sessions.

Right-hander Root had moved past 50 by lunch, having hit three boundaries in an over off Sharma to bring up his half-century. He was unbeaten on 52 at the interval, having struck five fours from 126 balls faced.

Moeen was also in defiant mood, hitting five boundaries from 147 balls to reach 39, only to be undone by the final ball of the session, ducking into a short ball from Sharma to lob a simple catch to Cheteshwar Pujara at short leg.

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan has called for current skipper Alastair Cook to be replaced by Eoin Morgan.

Cook has endured a lengthy run of poor form with the bat, while his leadership qualities have also been called into question.

And Vaughan thinks that the time is now right for a change, telling Test Match Special: "I'm going to go radical, bring Eoin Morgan in to bat at six and captain. Morgan has fresh eyes, a new approach. It can't be any worse."
