England are waiting anxiously on tests on a knee injury sustained by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during the 2-2 World Cup warm-up draw with Ecuador in Miami.

The Arsenal midfielder had to be replaced just past the hour mark after a clash with Carlos Gruezo and England head coach Roy Hodgson is clearly concerned by the injury.

He told reporters: "Oxlade-Chamberlain is the one that bothers (me). His knee buckled under the challenge as the player turned into him.

"He'll have a scan tomorrow (Thursday), I'd imagine. When we've had the scan, we'll know more."

Meanwhile, Hodgson refused to get too carried away by the performance of Ross Barkley on his first start for his country, adding of the Everton youngster: "I think he needs to learn when he can turn with the ball and when he has to keep the ball, but that's quite normal for a player his age.

"If he's going to be the player we want him to be, he has to make better decisions of when he turns with the ball.

"That's not a criticism, but there were other performances out there.

"Oxlade-Chamberlain and Phil Jones were outstanding, as was Jack Wilshere in the middle of the park, while Rickie Lambert scored a magnificent goal."

England now have just one more match before they open their World Cup campaign against Italy in Manaus on Saturday 14th June. The Three Lions take on Honduras on Saturday, also in Miami.
