Toulon's former England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson has announced that he will retire from rugby at the end of this season.

The 34-year-old is set to play in the Heineken Cup final against Saracens, which Toulon can be backed at 1.61 to win, before bringing the curtain down on his illustrious career, by featuring in the French Top 14 final against Castres.

Wilkinson won 91 England caps and will always be remembered for kicking the dramatic last-gasp drop-goal which helped Clive Woodward's side beat Australia 20-17 in the 2003 World Cup final.

"I'd like to focus all my energy on the team and the final two games," he said. "It goes without saying that I have an enormous number of people to thank for their support from all around the world but especially here in France and in England.

"I sincerely thank you all for everything you have given me and for making these last 17 years something I will never forget."

Wilkinson started his career with Newcastle in 1997 and made his England debut at the age of 18.

He helped his country clinch the 2000, 2001 and 2003 Six Nations titles as well as playing a key role in the World Cup success 11 years ago.
