Andy Murray hopes to give his body a good test by impressing in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

The reigning Olympic and Wimbledon champion underwent back surgery late last year, but has returned to action successfully in the early part of 2014.

Murray reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, before helping Great Britain to a Davis Cup victory over the USA in San Diego.

However, Murray still feels as if he is short of match practice and is looking for to competing in the Netherlands.

Murray told reporters: "It is important for me to challenge my body just now, to see how good it is.

"I obviously played my first five set matches in Australia, then in the Davis Cup. In those events you have a day off between matches, but if I play well this week I will be competing a few days in a row.

"The next month or two, I will still be learning about my body. But so far it has been good."

Murray opens up in Rotterdam against Edouard Roger-Vasselin, with the Scot 1.083 to make a winning start, while the Frenchman can be backed at 8.00 to secure a shock victory.

Meanwhile, defending Rotterdam champion Juan Martin del Potro hopes to be able to impress despite recent problems with a wrist injury.

Del Potro, who is 1.40 to win his opener in Holland against Gael Monfils, admitted: "The doctors are hopeful that my wrist will recover very fast. It is improving slowly, but at least it is improving.

"I'm trying to find a different treatment to fix the injury, to ensure that I can play the whole season."
