Hull FC half-back Daniel Holdsworth has admitted that he hasn't come to terms with the fact that he will be playing at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final next month.

The Black and Whites caused a major shock by beating Warrington Wolves 16-12 in an enthralling semi-final at Huddersfield on Sunday evening and will now play Wigan Warriors on 24th August.

Holdsworth, who was handed the man-of-the-match award, was not expected to feature against the Wolves because of a calf strain that was expected to keep him sidelined for another two weeks.

The 29-year-old Australian, who Hull signed from Salford City Reds, said: "It was a six-week injury and it's only four weeks since I suffered it. But I worked really hard on my rehab and had this game in mind if we got past Catalans in the quarter-finals.

"I healed quickly and it worked out well. It's amazing getting to Wembley.

"There were a lot of happy boys in the changing rooms. It hasn't sunk in yet, but it will over the next couple of days. Reaching Wembley is great for our young squad."

The Wire raced into the lead thanks to early tries from Joel Monaghan and Trent Waterhouse, but Hull responded through Tom Lineham and Richard Whiting before Aaron Heremaia's second-half try gave Hull a 16-8 lead.

A late Ben Currie try led to a frenzied finish but the Hull defence stood form as the underdogs hung on for a memorable win.

Warrington had won the Challenge Cup in three of the last four seasons, while Hull have not lifted the trophy since 2005.
