Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists the Reds have no plans to let Luis Suarez leave Merseyside this summer, despite the striker's pleas to go.

The Uruguay international has made no secret of his desire to move away from Anfield after a controversial stint with the club following his move from Ajax in 2011.

Arsenal, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all thought to be interested in making Suarez's wish come true, with the Gunners thought to have had an offer of £30million plus add-ons rejected.

The north London outfit have reportedly been told they will need to offer at least £40million to tempt Liverpool into a sale, with his agent, Pere Guardiola, claiming a bid of that size would activate a release clause in his client's contract.

Rodgers has reacted quickly to talk Liverpool could be ready to cash in on the 26-year-old by insisting they have no intention to sell.

Having seen skipper Steven Gerrard sign a two-year contract extension, the Reds boss is eager to pair the England midfielder with Suarez again next season in order to achieve his goal of finishing in the top four.

"He is a wonderful player and he is still very much a Liverpool player. No matter who the player is, nobody is bigger than Liverpool Football Club," said Rodgers.
"'Luis is a very important member of this squad and I am looking forward to working with him again this season.
"We had an offer that was nowhere near what we value him at. Of course he wants to work and play at the top level.
"But unless something drastic happens, he will be staying here. He has got three years left on his contract."

Suarez, who is 17.00 to be the top goalscorer in the Premier League next season, is still on his summer holidays after being given an extended break following the Confederations Cup.

Meanwhile, Liverpool continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against an Indonesian All-Star XI on Saturday, before taking on Melbourne Victory on 24th July.
