England have named an unchanged 12-man squad for the second Test against New Zealand, which starts at Headingley on Friday.

The hosts won the first Test at Lord's by 170 runs by bowling out the Black Caps for 68 in their second innings and have stuck with the players who helped clinch that victory.

Batsman Ian Bell is included despite suffering from flu-like symptoms, with seamer Tim Bresnan hoping to be included after being the man to miss out at Lord's.

National selector Geoff Miller has warned England that they need to improve on their display in the first Test, where on Jonathan Trott and Joe Root passed 50 during the match.

Miller said: "I thought the team showed a lot of fighting spirit when under pressure to set up the victory.

"We are aware that there are still areas that we need to improve on and the players and coaches will be working hard ahead of the second Test to ensure we continue to get better as a side.

"New Zealand showed again that they are a dangerous side and we know we will need to produce another strong performance this week to secure a series victory."

England are 1.61 to win the second Test, with the draw 3.00, while Bell is 6.50 to be the hosts' leading 1st innings batsman.

Squad:
Alastair Cook (Essex) (Captain), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Nick Compton (Somerset), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Matt Prior (Sussex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire).
