England bowling coach David Saker has admitted that fast bowler Stuart Broad needs a boost for the remainder of the Test series in India, which is now tied at 1-1.

Broad has failed to take a wicket in the opening two matches of the four-Test series and his place has been called into question, especially if Steven Finn proves his fitness after a thigh injury.

"It is a bit of an issue," Saker said of Broad's lack of success. "He has not bowled as we would have liked, but he's not the first bowler to come over here and find it hard.

"During my tenure as bowling coach I haven't had too many players down in confidence and form. I hope I can do some stuff over the next few days that can help."

Meanwhile, Finn is set to feature in an England Performance Programme fixture in a bid to prove his fitness, with his tour set to end of he fails to come through unscathed.

"If he gets through unscathed and bowls well, his name will definitely be talked about for selection," Saker added, looking forward to the third Test which starts in Kolkata next Wednesday.

"He's got that x-factor, a bit of pace, that height that always means you could get variable bounce over here - so his name will be bandied around for sure for that second seamer's spot."

Having levelled the series with a superb win in Mumbai, England are 4.33 to win the series and 3.75 to take a 2-1 lead by securing a victory in Kolkata, with the draw 2.75.
