Manchester City and England goalkeeper Joe Hart has been told to keep being himself, and to ignore accusations he has become 'too cocky'.

Hart has come in for heavy criticism after a poor showing for the Three Lions in their 4-2 defeat to Sweden on Wednesday.

Former Manchester United midfielder, now turned TV pundit, Roy Keane, recently levelled an accusation towards Hart that he had started to believe his own high hype.

Hart dismissed those comments and he is now being backed to ram the taunts back down the throat of Keane and the rest of the snipers in the coming weeks.

The 25-year-old will look to erase the memory of Stockholm when City host Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium this weekend. It is a game that City, 3.00 to retain the Premier League title this season, are 1.20 to win. They can also be backed at 1.83 to keep a clean sheet against Paul Lambert's struggling side.

Blues boss Roberto Mancini will make a late decision on Matija Nastasic (knee), with Joleon Lescott currently on stand-by.

Former City and England goalkeeper Joe Corrigan told the Manchester Evening News: "Joe is not cocky. He's a confident lad with his feet on the ground. He's very level-headed.

"The Sweden game will soon be forgotten. The league is his bread and butter. Joe will reflect on the Sweden game and learn from what happened.

"I have no doubt at all he'll continue to develop into one of England's greatest-ever goalkeepers."
