Kevin Pietersen has not given up hope of being recalled by England for next year's tour of New Zealand.

The 32-year-old has not been included in England's squads for the current World Twenty20 campaign or this winter's tour of India after sending "provocative" text messages to South Africa players this summer.

However, recent discussions between Pietersen and the England hierarchy appear to have been successful and he has now tweeted: "Hoping all is sorted & I'm on the New Zealand tour in February."

England face Afghanistan in their opening World Twenty20 match on Friday and are 1.04 to win the match. They are 8.50 to go on and retain the trophy they secured two years ago.

When the tournament is over, England head to India, with the first Test scheduled to start on 15th November in Ahmedabad. The remaining three Tests will take place in Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur.

The uncapped pair of Somerset's Nick Compton and Yorkshire's Joe Root have been added to the England squad for the tour in place of Pietersen and former captain Andrew Strauss.

However, if Pietersen can resolve his differences in time for the tour of New Zealand, he will face the Black Caps in three Tests, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20s.

England arrive in New Zealand in late January with the first Test set to start on 6th March in Dunedin. The second Test begins in Wellington eight days later with the final Test taking place in Auckland.
