Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes the club must work hard to sign more players if they are to retain their Premier League title.

City, who are 2.30 to win the league for the second successive year, managed a 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Sunday and Mancini hopes there will be more signings before the transfer window closes on Friday.

"We need to put players in but we work for this, we have five days and we should work hard," said the City boss.

The champions seem set to sign Scott Sinclair from Swansea this week after a fee of £6.2million was reportedly agreed with Michael Laudrup's side. The winger would become only the second signing of the summer following the capture of Jack Rodwell from Everton, but the club are also being linked with swoops for Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez and Roma's Daniele De Rossi.

City were not at their best at Anfield and gratefully made the most of a Martin Skrtel error to snatch a point, Carlos Tevez pouncing on a terrible backpass to level the scores at 2-2. However, Mancini insisted his side deserved something from the game.

"Carlos is in good form at this moment. I am happy for him. It is important he continues to play like he did in these two games," he said.

He added: "We didn't deserve to lose because in the first 30 minutes we played very well and we had a lot of chances to score.

"We have taken one point when we went down two times. I don't think there are a lot of teams that come here and push Liverpool in their half."
