Usain Bolt branded himself the "greatest athlete" to have lived after completing the sprint double for the second Games running with victory in the 200m final.

The Jamaican sprinter was the favourite to become the first man to ever win back-to-back 200m sprint titles at the Games, despite the challenges of Yohan Blake, Christophe Lemaitre and Wallace Spearmon.

In the end only Blake got close to challenging Bolt, who crossed the line in a time of 19.32, missing out on breaking his own world record which stands at 19.19 seconds.

Blake took silver while Jamaican compatriot Warren Weir won a surprise bronze medal as the Caribbean island completed a clean sweep of the medals in the 200m.

Should Bolt win a third gold medal in the relay it will mean he has successfully defended all three of the titles he won in Beijing four years ago, a unique feat in the sport of athletics.

After winning 200m gold the 25-year-old said his double sprint success had proven all those who doubted him before London 2012 wrong and was happy with his now legendary status.

"I'm now a living legend," Bolt told BBC Sport. "Now I am going to sit back, relax and think about what's next.

"I don't know what I really want to do after this, whether to run the 100 or 200 or try something else. I need to find a goal that's going to motivate me to great things. The rest of the season I am just going to have fun because I did what I came here to do."

Bolt went on to say that he had no intentions of walking away from athletics and is already looking towards what he might at the next Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
