Nottingham Forest have named the former Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll as their new manager.

The 55-year-old, who spent five months as first-team coach at The City Ground last season under former boss Steve Cotterill, had only been appointed as League One new-boys Crawley Town's manager in May.

Forest are 4.33 to win promotion from the Championship this season while Leicester City can be backed at 3.00 to go up, Middlesbrough at 8.00 and Bolton Wanderers at 3.75.

The club's new owners, the Al-Hasawi family, who axed Cotterill earlier this month, have handed O'Driscoll a three-year deal.

"We interviewed high-profile figures but we truly believe Sean O'Driscoll is the best man," Fawaz Al-Hasawi said.

"Sean's passion for Nottingham Forest, knowledge of the game and the Championship in particular, plus his work ethic, shone through in our conversations.

"He is hugely respected, not only by members of our current squad and staff at the club for his work in helping transform our fortunes last season, but also within the wider football community."

O'Driscoll made his name at Bournemouth, managing the Cherries for six years until 2006 when he became boss at Doncaster.

He guided Rovers to promotion to the Championship in his first full season in charge at the Keepmoat Stadium but lost his job ten months ago despite keeping the club in English football's second tier for three seasons. They were relegated under Dean Saunders' stewardship last term.
