West Indies captain Darren Sammy admits that he might have to move a place up the order in the tourists' bid for better balance.

All-rounder Sammy, who struck his maiden Test hundred against England at Trent Bridge, currently comes in at number eight but concedes shunting up to number seven would allow the selection of another fast bowler to increase attacking firepower at Edgbaston.

West Indies are 2.30 to score more than 160 runs in their second innings in Nottingham on Monday and 2.87 to score between 130 and 160 runs.

The West Indians fought back brilliantly with the ball in Nottingham courtesy of Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach and Sammy himself but would arguably have been even more dangerous had they not had to sacrifice express paceman Fidel Edwards.

"We have to come up with the right solution for the team," Sammy said. "It's good to know we have options and if someone is not having a good series we could make changes."

Most under pressure is vice-captain Kirk Edwards, whose sorry sequence of first-class runs on this tour was raised to 20 in seven innings with scores of seven and nought at Trent Bridge.

Edwards, 27, struck a hundred on his Test debut against India in Dominica in July 2011 and was in decent touch as recently as last month when he struck 61 in the first innings of a defeat to Australia in his native Barbados.

However, his technique has come under intense scrutiny from the England attack, and his confidence appeared shot when Tim Bresnan trapped him lbw in the second innings of the second Test, suggesting that at least one change for the decider in the Investec Series is inevitable.
