Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists his side have not given up the title race, despite falling eight points behind rivals United.

Mancini's men lost a tense match 1-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, hours after United had seen off QPR 2-0 at Old Trafford. City are now 18/1 to win the league, while Sir Alex Ferguson's men are 1/50 to retain their crown.

Mancini is remaining defiant with six games to go as the season threatens to end in failure.

"In life until it's over you should do your best. In the end if we don't win it's probably because they (United) did better than us," the Italian told Sky Sports.

"It's clearly difficult (to lift the players) but we play in three days and this is good.

"We are a professional team, with professional players. It's important we start to win and finish the championship well."

City have a chance to exert some pressure on United when they host West Brom on Wednesday evening. They are 7/1 to win 3-0, while a 2-2 draw is available at 20/1.

Meanwhile, Mario Balotelli may have played his last game for City after being sent off against Arsenal, with an automatic three-match ban to follow. Mancini has admitted losing patience with the temperamental player, who could now be sold in the summer.
