Chelsea skipper John Terry is to undergo a scan after revealing he has two suspected broken ribs which are affecting his breathing.

Terry sustained the injury during Chelsea's win against Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie last week, but was able to finish the game. He also played the full game against Aston Villa on Saturday but had to substituted after an hour of Wednesday's second-leg tie against Benfica after suffering breathing problems.

However, he insists he can cope with the games coming up for the club, which include the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona and the FA Cup last-four clash with Spurs. The Blues are 7/2 to defeat Barca in the first leg on 18th April, and are 9/5 to reach the FA Cup final. They can also be backed at 2/1 to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

"I don't know how long I'll be out. I will have a scan in the morning and we will see where we go from there. It's just horrible," said the 31-year-old.

"When you get one in the ribs, you can't do anything about it, you can't treat it, you just have let it heal, but I can get through games definitely."

Gary Cahill replaced Terry at Stamford Bridge against Benfica and says he would relish the chance to take on Barcelona if needed.

He said: "I am ready to face them if selected. It is exciting to play against Barcelona.

"This is why I joined the club. If called upon to play in that game, it will be fantastic."
