England aim to build on big win

After being obliterated in the Test series against Pakistan, England bounced back in the opening ODI but cannot be complacent as several players still failed.

Apart from captain Alastair Cook, only Ravi Bopara dealt well with the Pakistani spinners. In fact Cook and Bopara were the only batsmen on either side (out of the 20 to reach the middle) to face 40 deliveries.

Steven Finn continues to take wickets in non-helpful conditions and is now consistently the quickest England bowler. He is likely to be the top wicket-taker in the series and could soon take over from James Anderson; initially in the one-day team and then the Test side.

England's loyalty will keep Eoin Morgan in the side and Jonny Bairstow is unlikely to oust Craig Kieswetter just yet. In fact Kieswetter gave one of his best performances with the gloves but was lost with the bat against the turning ball.

Pakistan are likely to make a couple of changes for the second ODI which England are 2.10 to win and Pakistan 1.72.

Wahab Riaz, with four wides and a no-ball, annoyed Misbah-ul-Haq, and he and Umar Gul were ineffective and conceded 100 runs between them. Gul should survive and Junaid Khan, who knows the England players a little from his time at Lancashire, is the obvious replacement for Riaz.

The Akmal family will probably rotate as Umar's bad back is no asset to his wicket-keeping and Adnan is set to return after playing in three games in Zimbabwe. Azhar Ali may replace the disappointing Imran Farhat but Shoaib Malik is set to keep his place.

England will win again if they can post a total and the captain will hope that Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Morgan or Kieswetter join in the run-making.

Trott can take the batting honours, he is 5.00 to be England's top scorer, after his first game duck and Finn will again be among the wickets. He is 4.50 to be England's top bowler in the second ODI.
