The Wigan Warriors first teams squad are back in pre-season training on familiar ground, having recently returned from a trip to Florida, USA.

While abroad, the team were able to take advantage of the hot and dry conditions and step up their preparations for the 2012 season.

Head coach Shaun Wane says he's delighted with how the trip went and is satisfied that objectives he set for the players were met.

"Everything went really smoothly and everything went to plan. We've been on the field every day and doing other things as well. It's been full on. I said I wanted to cram two weeks of work into one week, and we have We've achieved everything we set out to and more," said Wane, who officially succeeded Michael Maguire as head coach in November.

"One of the big objectives was making sure the new lads got up to speed with how we train, the intensity, the levels we expect. They've certainly done that and I can't commend them and the rest of the lads enough.

"We went to watch an NFL game too and it was awesome. I'd never been to one before and friends had said I'd be bored, but I got into it. The atmosphere was great, and the game was really good to watch. There are some terrific athletes."

The Warriors won the Challenge Cup in 2011 but failed to defend their Super League title.

They begin their Super League campaign with a home clash against Huddersfield on February 5.

The Leeds Rhinos begin the defence of their Super League title with a home clash against Hull KR on 3rd February. They can be backed at 5.50 to retain their crown and are 7.00 to win the regular season.
