Morley deflated after latest loss

England prop Adrian Morley admits that making his 50th appearance at international level was scant consolation following another defeat to Australia.

The Four Nations hosts were defeated 30-8 by the Kangaroos in the final at Elland Road, although they were level at 8-8 early in the second half.

"It was a very proud moment to make my 50th appearance but it was no fairy-tale ending and I thought that we saved our worst performance of the tournament for the final. We don't do ourselves any favours and Australia were too good on the night," said Morley, who is hoping to play a part for the England in the 2013 World Cup.

"We had a great week's preparation and did a lot of defending first half. Even though we were poor, it was only 8-6 at half time, but we'd used that much energy that we didn't have a great deal in the tank for the second half.

"Even though it was disappointing with two losses against the Australians, the Wembley test in particular was close. We'll learn from it though and I think we have made some good strides this tournament. On the whole we have done reasonably well."

Morley will take a well-deserved break from rugby league before returning to pre-season training with Warrington Wolves, 3.75 to win next year's Grand Final.

The Wolves lifted the league leaders shield in 2011 but failed to reach the Super League Grand Final or Challenge Cup Final. But, following the capture of Australian second rower Trent Waterhouse, prop Chris Hill and half-back Stefan Ratchford, hopes will be high that the side can challenge for major trophies in 2012.

Leeds Rhinos are 5.50 to win the 2012 Grand Final while Wigan Warriors can be backed at 3.75 and St Helens at 4.50.
