Amir Khan is being lined up to face Floyd Mayweather in 2012, according to the chief executive of Golden Boy Promotions.

Richard Schaefer says the fight is being planned for November next year and both camps are on board.

Khan will first take on Zab Judah on 23rd July in Las Vegas. The WBA light-welterweight champion can be backed at 1.14 to win his unification clash and is 1.80 to win by KO, TKO or disqualification.

There are then plans for a meeting with Erik Morales in December, after which it is hoped Khan will make the step up to welterweight and eventually take on Mayweather.

Schaefer said: "We believe in Amir and believe he is ready. These are big plans but Team Khan are on board.

"I've had conversations with Mayweather and his adviser Al Haymon and they are definitely open to a fight with Amir Khan, absolutely."

Schaefer also revealed Mayweather is "open to fighting" Manny Pacquiao and "has rediscovered his love of boxing".

The 34-year-old, who hasn't fought since May 2010 when he defeated Shane Mosley, is due to face Victor Ortiz on 17th September. The WBC welterweight champion is at 2.25 to win in under 11.5 rounds.
